Spooks Sequence to analyse for conversation

Here's the extract you need to analyse for the next class. Use the handout with the screenshots and lines for notes. Watch the sequence and make GOOD QUALITY notes on the following:

1. Why is this shot used?
2. Why is it held for this length of time?
3. Why does it cut ot the next shot (including how it cuts)
4. Is the editing pace fast or slow and why?
5. How does the film-maker use editing to build/create/manipulate
     a. tension
     b. interest
     c. meaning
     d. enigma

Think about CONTINUITY EDITING - remember it's the invisible art. It's all about manipulating the audience and using what they know about how film works (film grammar) to make meaning and to potentially make them react/feel/interpret the extract in particular ways.

It's NOT about mise-en-scene, costume, lighting, camera movement, sound except where it pertains directly to your point(s) about editing so don't do a textual analysis.

12C deadline is THURSDAY 6th Dec (and show me your storyboards for the dialogue sheet too!)
12B deadline is THURSDAY 13th Dec (and don't forget you MUST have done your dialogue to storyboard sheet too)
